SavATree Tree Services & Lawn Care

The SavATree insect management program can protect your landscape from the damaging effects that may be caused by insect infestation. Beginning with a thorough inspection of your landscape, your professionally trained arborist will identify any insect problems and prescribe treatment, along with careful, routine monitoring and proper maintenance.

Insects will usually target plants that are already in poor health or under stress. Our arborists make it their first priority to restore the health of your trees and shrubs, so that they can naturally resist harmful insects. Our tree insect management philosophy is to use low impact methods and ingredients to minimize populations of pest insects while maintaining ecological sustainability by preserving beneficial insects.

Tree Insect Management and Treatment

If left undetected or untreated, there are a variety of harmful insects that can do significant damage to your trees:

  •   The larvae of certain insects directly defoliate trees by eating the leaves, needles, and fruit.
  •   Wood-boring insects injure and kill trees by infiltrating the tree’s vascular system, preventing the trunk and branches from taking up needed nutrients and moisture.
  •   Sucking pests cause wilting, spotting and drying of leaves and fruit, and can also transmit viruses to the plants.

SavATree insect management programs can protect your trees from the damaging effects of insect infestation. We use low impact methods and ingredients to minimize populations of damaging pests while preserving the ecologically beneficial insects.

Inspect, Identify, and Correct:  Steps to Effective Tree Insect Treatment

Your SavATree arborist will design a customized and multi-pronged treatment plan targeted to the tree species, the specific pest, and the site conditions.

Identify, Treat, and Prevent the Specific Pest

Your SavATree arborist will perform a visual inspection of the foliage, branches, and trunk of the symptomatic tree for evidence of infestation. If detected, they will recommend the regimen of control and prevention measures most appropriate for the specific insect and the tree species. That may include application of technical materials, and/or strategic pruning, to treat or remove the pest. Your arborist may also recommend fertilization or soil amendments to improve growing conditions and increase the overall health of the tree, which will allow it to recover more quickly from damage and better defend itself from future attacks.

Assess and Improve the Site Conditions.

Since poor site conditions may cause a tree to become vulnerable to insect infestation, your arborist may make recommendations to improve the site conditions before beginning insect treatments. For example, pruning the affected tree (and any trees and shrubs that may be crowding it) can improve sunlight penetration and air flow, and increase the efficacy of treatments.[Learn about our Tree Pruning, and other Tree Services.]
